The Accra East Grand Commandery of the Knights of St John International (KSJI) has inaugurated Mary Mother of God Commandery #1058 at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, Devtraco Courts, Community 25, bringing the number of Local Commanderies under its jurisdiction to 30.

The inauguration, held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, marks another milestone in the growth of the Noble Order and its commitment to Christian brotherhood, charity and service to God and country.

The new Local Commandery has an initial membership of 23 and is led by Noble Brother Joseph H. Seripenah as its first and Charter President.

The establishment of the Local Commandery provides another platform for members to deepen their faith, strengthen fraternal bonds and contribute to the mission of the Church through service to humanity.

A thanksgiving Mass was subsequently held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at the same church to mark the establishment of the new Commandery and seek God’s blessings upon its members and leadership.

Delivering the homily, Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Mark Yaw Asare congratulated the members on the achievement and urged them to build their service on the foundation of love for God and neighbour.

He reminded the Knights that membership in the Order should go beyond wearing a uniform, holding positions or participating in Church activities, stressing that authentic Christian service must be reflected in their daily conduct and relationships with others.

Fr. Asare encouraged members to promote unity, support one another and extend their service to people in need, particularly the vulnerable in society.

He also urged them to resolve disagreements with love and understanding, noting that even within the Church, misunderstandings could undermine the unity expected of Christians.

“Let your uniform remind you to be for our people. Let your brotherhood teach you to support one another. And let your love move you to serve those in need,” he said.

Congratulating Noble Brother Joseph Seripenah on accepting the responsibility of leading the new Commandery, Fr. Asare prayed for God’s blessings upon his leadership and expressed the hope that Mary Mother of God Local Commandery #1058 would grow from strength to strength.

The inauguration of Mary Mother of God Commandery #1058 adds to the growing network of Commanderies within the Accra East Grand Commandery, reinforcing the Order’s presence and providing another avenue for members to live out their Christian faith through brotherhood and service.
