Must read

The Youth Affairs Committee of Our Lady of Assumption (OLA) Catholic Church at New Achimota, Accra, organised a Leadership Orientation Seminar for the youth leaders of the Parish and Outstations with a call on them to be God-fearing leaders by ensuring they put God at the centre of their leadership.

Mr. Andy Manomey, a Human Resource Practitioner, who made the call as the facilitator of the Seminar told the youth “The love of God and love of neighbour must be the hallmark of every God-fearing leader.”

Adding, he said, “The will of God must prevail in all facets of a responsible leader.”

Speaking to the youth leaders last month, he touched on several aspects of being an effective and efficient leader which included general leadership formation, team spirit building, effective communication, dos and don’ts as a leader, temperaments and finance amongst others.

The participants comprised of executives and members of the OLA Parish and Church Youth Councils of the three Outstations of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Chantan, St. Daniel Comboni at Tantra Hills and St. Cecilia at Ofankor North.

Also participating were leaders of the various youth groups and societies within the parish and committee members of the PYC as well.

Focusing on the theme of the Seminar: “The Secrets to a Fruitful Leadership,” Mr. Manomey, who is the Manager of Radio Angelus, an Accra Archdiocesan Online Catholic Radio, told the youth that in order to become successful leaders, frequent attendance to daily Masses and visit the confessional “will get you to understand the plan of God for you.”

He advised the youth to package themselves well as leaders, be very confident in their space and eschew arrogance and disrespect since they are obstacles to good leadership.

Present at the Seminar was the Chairman of the OLA Youth Affairs Committee, Mr. Joseph B. R. Obu, who said the purpose of the Seminar was to form, inform, reform and transform the youth leadership of the Parish in order to bring about a positive change towards the growth of the church.

He, however, encouraged the leaders to put into practice what they had learned for the spiritual and physical growth of the youth in their various communities.
