Fr. John Jomat, of the Carmelite of Mary Immaculate (C.M.I.) at Odoben-Manhean, Ablekuma, a Rectorate in the Kaneshie Deanery of the Archdiocese of Accra, has advised children to be respectful and truthful to adults and their peers.

In a homily during the climax of the Holy Childhood Week celebration on February 11, 2024, he encouraged the children to work hard in achieving their dreams while he entreated parents to also help their wards to realize the purpose to which they were called.

He emphasised on the importance of the children in the Catholic Church, referring to the gospel, how Jesus healed the leper and set him free.

He stressed the need for children to be guided to be prayerful and having total faith in God in all their endeavours, thanking the Animators for their hard work in bringing the children together to climax the Week.

The week-long activities, which started with a launch on Sunday, February 4, 2024, were celebrated to enlighten children on this year’s theme: “Spiritual Cooperation”.

As part of the week’s celebrations, the children attended the Youth Mass in their numbers on Friday, February 9, 2024, where they were untreated to know much more about the Catholic faith, followed  with a clean-up exercise on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the church premise.

During the Mass to climax the week, the children performed various roles including serving on the altar, proclaiming the Word of God, ushering, leading the prayer of the faithful, bringing of offertory, and an appeal letter was handed over to the Priest-in-charge by the children concerning their needs.

All children present for the mass wore their career attire to showcase what they will be in when they grow up.
