Must read

As part of the Lenten and Easter charity works, the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Catholic Church at Chantan in Accra has donated items worth GHc3, 000 to the Good Shepherd Postulancy of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus at New Achimota.

The items included rice, toiletries, provisions, tin tomatoes and oil.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Chantan Church, an Outstations of Option (OLA) Parish, New Achimota, Mrs. Florence Akuamoah, Vice Chairperson of the Church pastoral Council  said the donation was to support the seminarians and the Postulancy since the Church has a parishioner there as a Seminarian.

According to her, the IHM community sees the season as an opportunity to support the Postulancy and to encourage the seminarians for their sacrifices to the church and their respective communities.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Postulancy, Rev. Fr. Aimé Hakpa, MCCJ, a formator, thanked the IHM Church for their support and thoughtfulness, adding that “this is the first community to visit the house and support us.”

He encouraged young boys in the Chatan Community to aspire to the Comboni Vocation to continue the Evangelisation Mission of the Church

As the First Stage of Religious (Comboni) formation, the Postulancy currently has two Formators, a Deacon, and Six Postulants (Seminarians); with Fr. Evans Kotoku, MCCJ as the Superior supported by Fr. Aimé Hakpa.

Among the six Postulants, two are in final year, three first year students of Philosophy and one learning English.

Primarily, they have their philosophical studies at St. Paul’s Catholic Seminary at Sowutuom, and imbibe the Comboni spirituality in the Community.

As part of the Charity, the Church also visited and donated items to sick and aged parishioners.
