Catholic Church at Ofankor North Marks Anniversary

The St. Cecilia Catholic Church at Ofankor North in the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has marked its 12th anniversary and feast day with a series of activities including a Bible Quiz.

The quiz which centred on the Gospel of Luke 1-, history of St. Cecilia, history of St. Cecilia Church and the history of the mother Parish, Our Lady of Assumption (OLA).

As part of the celebration, there were Day for children during which they played active role in the Mass, Sing songs by the Choir, feast day Mass, Advent Recollection at the mother Parish, Our Lady of Assumption (OLA), New Achimota and a Mass to climax the celebration.

Celebrating the Mass on Sunday, November 27, the first Sunday of Advent, Fr. Aimé Komkatse Hakpa, a Comboni Missionary, urged the faithful to walk in the light of the Lord.

“We have entered into a new liturgical year, a new page in our life. Prophet Isaiah in the first reading invites us to walk in the light of the Lord. Christ is the light we should look for me,” he said.

“He is the one the prophet is talking about, that we should come to and walk in his light,” he added.

He also urged the people of God to intensify our Christian life, saying, “We must be vigilant as we prepare to meet the Lord.”

Comboni Missionary Fr. Aimé Komkatse Hakpa,

“We must cloth ourselves with Christ, the armour of light. Clothing ourselves with Christ means we do away the works of darkness,” he stated, adding, “Christ must be identified in all that we do; not in promiscuity, lacks, drunkenness and rivalry as Saint Paul has stated.”

He advised the faithful to be watchful and be ready for Jesus’ coming.
