The members of 1994 year group of the Sogakofe Senior High School (SOGASCO) in the Volta Region has donated a GHc 205,000 refurbished Clinic and Guest house to the school as their contribution to their alma mater.

The cost of the project include furnishing with key activities including the extension works, roofing, wiring, plastering, tiling, levering, painting and others as well as provision of medical items and consumables including storage equipment, protectives, medicines and other essential medical gadgets.

The refurbished Clinic has two wards, one consulting and examination room, dispensary, two toilets, one bathroom and visitors lounge.

Presetting the refurbished clinic and guest house at a ceremony on Saturday, November 26, 2022, Dr. Godfred Amewu, the president of the 1994 Sogakofe Old Student Association (SOSA), said the project was initiated early this year after a visit to the school by the group’s Project Committee to identify which areas the Association could be of help to the school.

“The committee identified the sick bay which has become a pale shadow of itself which needed urgent attention,” he said, adding, “the guest house adjoining the sick bay was in an equally bad state and the committee included it in the reconstruction because it would serve as a place to accommodate any person or group of persons who are on campus to provide some special services to the school community.”

According to Dr. Amewu, the reconstruction the sick bay and guest house would go a long way to improve the school’s capacity to respond to student health issues and providing a decent place for guests.

He assured the School authorities that SOSA 94’ year group would continue to support their alma mater in every way, announcing that “The association is considering a couple of new health-related projects soon.”

The SOSA ’94 year group President thanked members who coordinated the completion of project and expressed gratitude to SOSA 94 members in the diaspora (USA), sponsors and all other persons who contributed towards the success of the edifice.

Receiving the items on behalf of the School, Mr. Newman Dziedzoave, and the headmaster expressed gratitude to the 94’ year group for the gesture which he said was the first of its kind.

He promised to take good care of the facility and ensure the consumables were put to proper use and appealed to other Year groups to emulate the gesture of 94 Year group.

The handing over ceremony was witnessed by over 50 94’ Year group members, over 40 other year group members, staff and students of the School.
