The president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo has stated that a determination will be made as to whether or not to extend the duration of the two-week restriction on movements.
While addressing the country on the “Update To Ghana’s Enhanced Response To The Coronavirus Pandemic” on Sunday, April 5, 2020, he said the country was about to enter a critical stage in the fight against the coronavirus in the coming week.
This, he explained by saying, 19,276 people have been reached through contact tracing by the Ghana Health Service.
Out of the total, fifteen thousand, three hundred and eighty-four have gone through testing and the Ghana Health service is yet to receive the test results.
He added the result of the test will determine our future course for action and government’s policy and measures will continue to be driven by the science of this matter.
The Ghana Academy of Arts and Science and Industrial Research (CSIR) according to President Akufo-Addo are now in partnership with the government to fight against the virus.
He also extended his gratitude to citizens who live in the affected areas of the lockdown for adjusting to the conditions and heed to the call even though there were few disobedient ones.
The President lauded the key role the frontline health workers were playing in the fight against the coronavirus.
