The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Pastor Dr. Mensah Otabil has cut the sod for the construction of a multi-million-cedi University Hospital on the Miotso campus of the Central University (CU) at Prampram.

Dr. Otabil, who is the Chancellor of the University was assisted by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bill Buenar Puplampu to cut the sod.

The project is estimated at GHc5 million and the first phase is expected to be completed within the next 24 months. When completed, the hospital will also offer quality healthcare to the residents of the Ningo-Prampram District and its environs.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Dr. Otabil said the Church was committed to providing the funding for the construction of the hospital.

According him, “health delivery is not about the size of buildings, but about the skills and protocols that are set up by the health practitioners that are adhered to religiously. And these are some of the things we hope to establish here at the hospital.”

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university, Prof. Puplampu, observed that the project will help to uplift science education. “It is historic for many reasons; Central University blazes the trail for science education in the private sector. At the time it was done, some said it was impossible,” he said.
