Subject Yourselves to COVID Testing -Assemblyman to Returnees

Must read

The Assembly Member for Hlevi Toklokpo Electoral Area in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region, Mr Innocent Gbedzi, has asked returnees from Coronavirus-hit cities to subject themselves for testing before coming down to the countryside.

He said the measure was to stop the spread of the disease in the country and urged the locals to report any returnee to him or members of the Unit Committee.

“I have visited four communities in the electoral area today and educated all the households on the dangers of the Coronavirus and I don’t believe any of them would refuse to report anybody that would come to their community from the lockdown areas,” he said.

Mr. Gbedzi said, “when it becomes necessary for anyone from the lockdown areas to come to the Hlevi Toklokpo electoral area, we would have to isolate the person and get the person tested for Coronavirus before we allow the person into the community.”

He urged people in the electoral area to practice social distancing and wash their hands with soap regularly under running water.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday, March 27, declared a two-week partial lockdown of Accra, Tema, Obuasi and Kumasi, where Coronavirus cases have been recorded.

Ahead of the lockdown, there are reports of people in the cities relocating to the countrysides, which is likely to undermine the purpose of the lockdown with the possibility of people spreading the virus to other parts of the country.
