Volta Case Tracking Volunteers Commended

Rule of Law Specialist, Mr. Enock Jengre has commended Volta Region Case Tracking Volunteers for effectively inputting cases on the Ghana Case Tracking Platform.

The Case Tracking System (CTS) allows civil society organisations and the citizenry to monitor the progress of cases from beginning to end.

The CTS is a comprehensive integrated case tracking system for the Ghana criminal justice sector that has been designed, tested, piloted, and is currently being rolled out with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

As part of efforts to increase citizens’ monitoring and to ensure the effective implementation of the CTS, the Legal Resources Centre (LRC), a lead advocate for the  Ghana Case Tracking System has organised a town hall meeting for stakeholders which were drawn from Faith based organisations, Traditional Authority, Market women association, person with Disability to further deepen their participation in the initiative in the Volta Regional Capital Ho.

The workshop, which was supported by sub awardees of the Justice Support Activity Commonwealth Human Rights initiative and Crime Check Foundation with funding from United States Agency for International Development (USAID), was aimed at enchancing the effectiveness of the Case Tracking system in the Justice delivery chain in Ghana.

As part of efforts to improve justice delivery in the country, Government of Ghana in 2018 launched the electronic integrated criminal justice Case Tracking System, CTS to support key justice sector institutions in the justice delivery chain.

Ghana’s Case Tracking System aims to promote the involvement of civil society organizations in advocacy for justice delivery in Ghana.

The six justice sector institutions include Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Attorney General’s Department, Legal Aid Commission, Economic and Organised Crime Office, EOCO, and Judicial Service.

The Case tracking system has been designed to digitally track criminal cases from inception to its conclusion and avoid the delay in accessing Justice delivery in the Country.

The Activity is being implemented in forty (40) targeted Districts in seven (7) Regions of Ghana aims at ensuring that marginalized communities through mobilization and innovative public education programmes are aware of and supported to track progress of the delivery of the CTS.
