The 10th Anniversary Edition of the Bishop Herman Old Boys Union (BHOBU) Games has officially been launched during the BHOBU 2026 Congress held at three Christ the King Parish, Cantonments, Accra.

Speaking during the launch on Saturday, June 27, Mr. Sylvester Kwame Kafui Mintah (BHOBU 2005), Chairman of the BHOBU Games Planning Committee, announced that this year’s games will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

According to him, the anniversary edition is fully sponsored by an Old Boy of the BHOBU 2002-year group, making participation free for all year groups.

He however noted that participating year groups are required to pay a token commitment fee of GH¢500, which will be used to support the sports department of Bishop Herman College.

He said, “It is a form of support to the school to link whatever benefits that BHOBU Games is bringing to the union and also to the school as well. In fact, for the past 10 years, BHOBU Games has been one of the biggest rallying points for BHOBU.”

He also noted that the BHOBU Games brings younger year groups together, emphasizing the need for active participation and collaboration among all year groups.

This year’s edition introduces a Legends Category (penalty shootout) to encourage greater participation by senior and elderly old boys.

The games will feature Football, Indoor games and the Penalty shootout.

“The whole essence is for us to ensure that it is not just a young people’s thing. We want to get our elderly people involved. We want to make sure that BHOBU Games becomes one of the rallying points for all of us, for us to bond and make sure that it becomes a success”, he noted.

As a precursor to the main event, the union is organizing the BHOBU-POGA Health Walk on Saturday, 4th July 2026 which will be held simultaneously across zones including Ho, Hohoe, Kumasi, Cape Coast, and the Diaspora.

Mr. Sylvester Mintah appealed to all year groups, especially senior members, to participate actively and massively in both the Health Walk and the main Games to strengthen bonding and unity within the BHOBU fraternity.

He added, “We are entreating all year group leaders to try and inform their year groups to participate actively and massively in this year’s BHOBU Games.”
