The Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of Sunyani, has advised students never to engage in sexual acts when they are unmarried.
At a Mass at the Sacred Heart Senior High School, Nsoatre in the Bono Region of Ghana on June 9, 2024 during which he confirmed 51 students and initiated elven Tarcisians, he told the students that “God’s time is always the best.”
In his homily on June 9, 2024, admonished students that sexual relations are a holy act and all are products of sexual relations but it’s good only when it is done at the right time when God has blessed one and given him the mandate to increase and multiply.
The Bishop, who is the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, encouraged the students to be smart to detect the imposition of bad ideas of sexual immorality into their heads.
He urged those who are inclined to such behaviour for their fellow male or female should seek help immediately.
To the Confirmation candidates, he reminded them that the Holy Spirit would descend on them for them to proclaim the Good News of God, explaining to them that they must be re-baptized to receive the Holy Spirit.
“Do not let my hands which are imposed on you be in vain,” Bishop Gyamfi re-echoed, encouraging the Confirmandi to choose any of the gifts of the Holy Spirit they wanted from God and stick to it.
To the Tarcisians, he encouraged them to make the sacred Heart of Jesus Known and loved through their deeds.
Sr. Benedicta Uzokwe, HHCJ, Headmistress of the Sacred Heart Senior High School, thanked the Bishop his constant support to the School and congratulated the newly confirmed members of the church and the initiated Tarcisians.
Other people in attendance were a few staff, Sisters of the Handmaid of Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ), some parents of the Confirmandi, students and pupils of Sacred Heart Senior High School and Handmaids Preparatory/JHS respectively.
