Speaking at the funeral Mass of Ɔsabarima Agyei Kyere II, the Chief of Akroforo, and the father of Rev. Fr. Eric Agyei Febiri, Fr. Raphael Amoako Tawiah, Financial Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, has stated in his homily that truth in today’s world is subjective and that each individuals consider what they believe in as the truth.
He lamented over how the truth is sometimes hard to find in families, communities, in the country and even in the Church.
He indicated that because the truth is not always said by family and community leaders, people resort to radio and television programs to seek redress in their cases.
He continued that even in the palaces, the truth is sometimes shielded, making even Chiefs resort to the Court of Law to seek redress. Truth and Law are not the same, he cautioned.
Speaking further, Fr. Amoako Tawiah stated that there was only one church for more than 1,500 years. The subjectivity of truth is what has resulted in the proliferation of churches. Everyone thinks what they believe is the truth.
He continued that truth is the only way to peace. Without truth there cannot be happy and peaceful marriages. Without truth, there cannot be a peaceful community and country.
He encouraged the chiefs of the traditional council to let the truth guide them as they search for the successor of Ɔsabarima Agyei Kyere II.
Fr. Amoako Tawiah consoled the family that the truth is that Jesus died and rose from the dead, and will raise up those who believe in him, including Nana Agyei Kyere II who believed in Christ, and practiced his faith as a faithful and committed Catholic.
The funeral Mass for Ɔsabarima Agyei Kyere II took place at Akroforo, Berekum in the Diocese of Sunyani on the 25th of October 2024.
He was the Antipemhene of Berekum Traditional Area. The Mass was celebrated by Very Rev. Fr. Clement Amankwaa, Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani Ghana and concelebrated by a good number of Priests from the Dioceses of Sunyani, Techiman, and Goaso.
