Must read

In an inspiring initiative to engage young Catholics in the lead-up to the 2025 Accra Version of World Youth Day (WYD), the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council, has announced two challenges to foster creativity and deepen the spiritual connection among the youth

They include a logo design competition and an anthem contest. These initiatives aim as they prepare for the 2025 Accra Version of World Youth Day (WYD), scheduled for November 21-22, 2025, in Kordiabe under the Ashaiman Deanery.

The logo design challenge invites youth to create a visual representation inspired by the World Youth Day theme “You also are my witnesses, because you have been with me” (John 15:27).

Participants are encouraged to incorporate elements such as the abbreviation “WYD,” the number “2025” or “25,” the crucifix, and symbols reflecting Mother Mary. The top three designs will be recognized and honored during the grand closing ceremony of WYD 2025, with the unveiling of the logos set for Palm Sunday 2025.

In addition to the logo challenge, the Archdiocese will organize a WYD anthem contest for youth music ministries and choirs. The anthem should also reflect the theme, incorporating references to Jesus Christ, Mother Mary, the Accra Archdiocese, and the local youth community. The winning anthem will be introduced on Palm Sunday 2025 and celebrated during the closing ceremony of WYD 2025.

During the launch of the Accra Version of World Youth Day, Augustine Dagbey, Chairman of the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council encouraged donations through a “GH₵5 gift initiative” starting the 2025 Lenten season.

He further stated that fundraising efforts would include sales of paraphernalia and outreach to various associations within the Archdiocese, including the Accra Archdiocesan Christian Mothers Association, Catholic Women’s Association, Accra Archdiocesan St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Association, Association of Catholic Men, Young Christian Workers, Accra Archdiocesan COSRA, Accra East and West Grands of the St. John’s International and Ladies Auxiliaries, all regional Courts and Councils of Marshal, all member guilds of the Catholic Professional Guilds, Companies and Firms, as well as all Catholics.

This aims to unite Catholic youth in deepening their faith, strengthening their relationship with Christ, and promoting regional unity. Through prayer, worship, music, evangelization, and mentorship, participants will be inspired to live their faith boldly and become active witnesses of the Gospel in their communities.
