Kwasi Fante: Holy Spirit Polyclinic Marks 25years of Quality Health Care Delivery Amidst Challenges

Must read

Holy Spirit Catholic Polyclinic Kwasi Fante in the Kwahu Afram Plains, Eastern Ghana has celebrated its Silver Jubilee of quality health Care Delivery within the Kwasi Fante Community amidst all challenges.

In an address during the November 26, 2024 Silver Jubilee, Mr. Raymond Aryee, in a bit to capture the challenge of working in the terrain where the Polyclinic is located said “working here in Kwasi Fante is for the lion hearted. It is for the people who have some sort of love for community service and rural orientation,” highlighting how much the staff were sacrificing for the wellbeing of the people in and around Kwasi Fante.

According to Mr. Aryee, their services could be improved upon if they are able to secure a theatre with the help and support of the commununity and also if they have the right number of staff.

Belaboring the problem of inadequate staffing, that has been a kind of backdrop for the Facility, the Administrator mentioned that they were currently using the same Health Centre staff strength to run the Polyclinic.

Still speaking on staff needs, the Facility Administrator made a passionate appeal to the Director of Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), to help relief them by recruiting some of their critical staff that have been on Internally Generated Funds (IGF) for so many years, and their continuous stay on it, he said, may “derail the fulfilment of our desire that is so dear to our hearts – transitting the Polyclinic into a hospital.

According to him, having pivotal staff like 2 biomedical laboratory scientists, 2 accountants, a Procurement Manager, among others on their IGF ‘chokes’ it, hence the plea that actions towards addressing this ‘distressing’ need for the Facility be expedited.

“We will be happy if immediate actions are taken to recruit them to offload our IGF for us,” he implored.

Introducing another challenge for Holy Spirit Polyclinic, being network problem, the Director extended gratitude to the District Assembly for their efforts in trying to resolve the network problem plaquing the area, and pleaded that the work be sped up to get the network fully restored, as its lack was posing a major hindrance to the facility.

Mr. Aryee further extended a plea to the community to try to understand their role in health care delivery and give total comportment to the doctors, nurses and all healthcare workers anytime they go to visit them, at the same time assuring them of their best care and customer service in the course of “pulling resources towards alleviating their pain and improving their health”.

Dr. Peter Yeboah, the Executive Director of CHAG, in an address during the 25 years Anniversary, and visiting the Facility for the very first time, could not but congratulate the Staff of Holy Spirit Catholic Polyclinic for defiling all odds to live in, and offer dedicated service in a remote and deprived place like Kwasi Fante.

“My dear staff, you make us proud. You give meaning to our quality services. We want to thank you for your dedication, for the loyalty, the trust and confidence you have in the stewardship and leadership responsibility of the Church. Be assured that we will always support you,” he said.

The Executive Director further underlined the fact that healthcare is the backbone for any society, adding that the level of seriousness of any health facility is determined by the quality of care it is able to give to her clients, noting the common but note-worthy saying that “no care is better than poor quality of care”.
