As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Dr. John Kofi Mensah, has disclosed a number of supports the bank will be offering to the Catholic Institute of Business Technology (CIBT), a University of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra.
Dr. Mensah addressing the 7th Congregation ceremony of CIBT on Friday, March 13, 2020, as the guest speaker said “the Board and Management as part of the corporate social responsibility of ADB would like to support CIBT introduce a technology-backed value chain Agribusiness course”.
He added that the pending collaboration between ADB and CIBT is in line with the Bank’s Mission and Vision as well as government’s policy drive towards a sustainable economic growth through the Agribusiness Value Chain.
He, therefore, tasked University Council with support from the National Accreditation Board and other stakeholders to initiate the process towards this agenda”.
Other projects the bank will be embarking upon to support the University will be the rehabilitation of the University’s computer laboratory, construction of an arch at the entrance of the University to beautify it and also to offer internship opportunities for their students.
Graduating from the University were 78 students consisting of 40 females and 38 males.
54 of them pursued a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, 11 pursued degrees in Public Administration, 10 pursued degrees in Information Technology, 2 for degrees in Religion and Church Administration, and one for a degree in Computer Science. Three students graduated with 1st Class, 22 with 2nd Class Upper division, 44 with 2nd Class Lower division and 9 students with 3rd Class.
CIBT affiliated to the University of Ghana and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology had people representing their Vice Chancellors. Professor John Effah and Professor Hayford Acquah represented the Vice-Chancellors respectively. Chancellor of CIBT Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie was present and gave the welcome address at the commencement of the ceremony. Members of the governing council of the University and other dignitaries were also present.
The Chancellor, Archbishop John Bonaventure Kwofie commissioned the graduates to go into the world and contribute their quota to national development from the knowledge, skills, training and motivation they have been given during their period of studies at the University.
The president of CIBT, Professor Sylvester Achio in his remarks at the ceremony assured the Chancellor and the Governing Council of management’s stance in taking the right decisions, “the management of CIBT will not compromise in taking the right actions that will lead to the growth of the Institution”.
He also showed gratitude to the Accra Archdiocese for their immense support to the University both financially and spiritually.
