St. Ignatius Of Loyola Catholic Church Youth Celebrates Heritage Month

Must read

Youth and parishioners from St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic church in Baatsona on March 16, 2025, celebrated the Ghana Heritage Month during their Heritage Month youth mass.

The youth in the church adorned themselves in colourful traditional and African print attires which displayed the unique and diverse cultural backgrounds of the church.

During mass, the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) performed the enthronement of the Word with a cultural display including drumming and dancing.

In the homily, delivered by Rev. Fr. Peter Ehimanre, the central message was to always encourage one another even in difficult times.

Using Moses and Elijah as examples, he said that there may be difficult moments where “we may want to smile but we cannot smile”.

He said, “The fact that Moses and Elijah were there to strengthen Jesus’ faith teaches us that we all need encouragement. As humans, there are moments we become scared, worried or troubled… Let us learn to be like Moses and Elijah to those around us who may be discouraged”.

He also added that parishioners must learn to use kind words in talking to each other in order to encourage one another.

According to Fr. Peter, one’s life must not be perfect before encouraging someone. Like Moses and Elijah who experienced difficulties in doing the work of God, he urged parishioners not to be discouraged.

“Moses did not find it funny dealing with the Israelites while attempting to lead them to the promise land… Like Moses, Elijah dealt with stiffed neck people bent on turning away from God but in all of this, they never gave up”, he said.

He added that, “No matter the problems, let us not be discouraged but believe that God is involved.”

He also said that the Transfiguration is about recognizing who Jesus is and listening to him throughout the journey of life.

He said, “My dear friends let us pray for grace, the grace for us to listen to God’s words and put His words into practice”.
