Must read

The St. Dominic Commandery #852 of the Knights of St. John International has officially launched its 10th Anniversary Celebration under the theme: “Chivalry in Christ: A Decade of Dedicated Service and Devotion.”

This milestone marks ten years of unwavering commitment to Catholic values, brotherhood, and community service.

The launch, which took place at the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Mallam, was accompanied by a renewed call to the Catholic faithful, especially the youth, to embrace the noble ideals of faith, hope, and charity through membership in the historic Order.

The anniversary celebrations would unfold over the coming weeks with a range of spiritually enriching and community-focused activities as follows:

  • Saturday, June 14, 2025 – Theme Talk by Rev. Fr. Pius Asare
Venue: St. Dominic Catholic Church, Mallam | Time: 9:00 AM
  • Sunday, June 15, 2025 – Visitation to Elderly Church Members
  • Tuesday, June 24, 2025 – Feast Day Mass in honour of St. John the Baptist
  • Sunday, July 13, 2025 – Grand Climax with Full Military Turnout

The Commandery invites all Catholic faithful aged 16 and above to consider joining the Knights of St. John International to serve and acquire spiritual growth.

The Knights of St. John International, established in 1886, originated as a Catholic fraternal order honouring the bravery of young Catholic defenders of the Church.

Since then, it has grown into a global movement with active membership in countries including Ghana, the United States, Canada, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Germany, and more.

In Ghana, the Order’s presence dates back to 1933, with its first commandery formed in Saltpond and later expanding to Accra and nearly every Catholic Arch/Diocese nationwide.

Highlighting the inclusive spirit of the Order, the Ladies Auxiliary was recognized for its tireless efforts in promoting service, sisterhood, and devotion under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Additionally, the Cadets and Junior Auxiliaries, comprising young boys and girls, were celebrated as the future of the Order, being nurtured in leadership, discipline, and faith.

Leadership of the Order has also emphasised that the Order is not a secret society or lodge, and firmly aligns with the doctrine and values of the Catholic Church.

As the 10th Anniversary unfolds, the St. Dominic Commandery #852 looks forward to a season of reflection, celebration, and recommitment to its noble mission of serving God, the Church, and humanity.
