44 Newly Confirmed Urged to Resist Temptations of the World.

Must read

The Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare, one of the Auxiliary Bishops of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra during his Pastoral visit to the St. Martin of Tours Garrison Catholic Church,  has emphasised the need for newly confirmed to be courageous and steadfast in the Catholic faith.

During his homily, he urged the 44 confirmandi from the Church community to become active members of the Church and to resist the temptations of the world.

He said, “Let your words, actions and choices reflect God’s love and truth. Resist the temptations of the world and hold fast to prayer and the sacrament of the spirit. The Holy Spirit will guide you and strengthen you but you must cooperate with it.”

According to Bishop Asare, the Sacrament of Confirmation is not just a ceremony but a growth of commitment to Christ to serve the Church.

In addition, Bishop Asare noted that the Sacrament of Confirmation makes one become a bold Soldier of Christ.

He said, “You see why confirmation is important… confirmation should make you Soldiers of Christ, bold because you are filled with the Holy Spirit to know why you are a Catholic and a Christian”.

He advised them to be courageous in any circumstance they find themselves, highlighting the need to remain steadfast in the Catholic faith.

“That is why we call you Soldiers of Christ, this is your call, answer it with faith, unity and unwavering dedication”, he noted.

Bishop Asare reiterated the Archbishop’s call to confirm candidates of ages 13 years and above, noting that one must understand the doctrines of the Church.

“The Archbishop has insisted that we confirm 13 years and above… we want 13 years for a reason. You should be adult enough because if you don’t understand the Church and we confirm you, later you will stand somewhere and say there is nothing in the Catholic Church”, he reiterated.

He added, “Confirmants if they confirm you as soldiers of Christ then you don’t have to run away”.
