NUGCDPA Shows Support for Donkorkrom Vicariate in Solidarity

Demonstrating an act of kindness and support, the National Union of Ghana Catholic Diocesan Priests Associations (NUGCDPA) has presented a Changan 4-wheel drive dual-cabin pickup to the Apostolic Vicariate of Donkorkrom to improve the pastoral and humanitarian obligations of the vicariate.

The vehicle, worth GHc355,600, was presented to Most Rev. John Alphonse Asiedu SVD, Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Donkorkrom, in a brief handing-over ceremony at the National Catholic Secretariat, Shiashie, on 20th November 2025.

During the ceremony, Very Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Kuusah, President of the National Union of Ghana Catholic Diocesan Priests Associations, described the gesture as a “significant moment of compassion and solidarity.

He added, “We recognize the tireless efforts of the Catholic Diocesan Priests of Ghana and lay contributors serving Donkorkrom”.

While speaking, Fr. Thaddeus commended the Donkorkrom Vicariate for their resilience, stating that their “faith and perseverance inspire” them.

Fr. Thaddeus also recalled previous donations to a little girl of an amount of GHC100,000 and GHC30,000 to priests and some individuals affected by the Bawku conflict, noting, “this amazing and novel act of NUGCDPA is part of our efforts to support those in need”.

Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, an Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra and Episcopal Chair for Clergy and Religious, on behalf of the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference blessed the new vehicle and presented it to Most Rev. John Alphonse Asiedu SVD.

Also in attendance were Very Rev. Fr. Clement Adjei, Secretary General of NCS, Rev. Fr. Terence Adzimah, Executive Secretary of the Centre for Human Development- CEHUD, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Liashiedzi, Executive Secretary of the Department of Pastoral Ministry and Evangelization, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obeng Codjoe, PRO of NUGCDPA, Rev. Fr. Michael Quaicoe, Director of Governance, Justice and Peace of NCS, and Rev. Fr. Dieu Donne Davor, Executive Secretary for the Department of Social Communications, NCS.
