Afram Plains: St. Cecilia Parish Donates to Forifori Prisons

Must read

The St. Cecilia Parish, Forifori, in the Apostolic Vicariate of Donkorkrom recently visited and made donations at the Forifori Camp Prisons located in the Kwahu Afram Plains South.

The kind gesture from the parish forms part of their extension of the Christmas joy with the inmates.

The donation was basically a prepared lunch for the inmates with drinks and toilet rolls.

In presenting the items, Rev. Fr. Philip Desmond Gyapong, the Parish Priest of the St. Cecilia Parish, indicated that it was right and proper to share the joy of Christmas with the vulnerable in society, hence the choice of the inmates.

He encouraged the inmates not to lose hope but be disciplined and obedient to their officers. They are to submit themselves to the formation given them as correctional measures to make them fit once more into society.

On behalf of the Prisons, Superintendent Jonathan Nii Amarkai Commey, the In- Charge thanked the parish for their kind gesture and asked other well wishers to emulate their examples, since the prisons lack a lot of things.

Like Oliver Twist, they asked for more support from the church, because the prisons has also become an extension of the Catholic family.

The inmates also expressed their joy and appreciation to the church, and as usual took the opportunity to present some of their needs. They include wellington boots for farming, chairs for church and other gatherings, and drugs for the infirmary.

The donations came from the support of some parishioners and friends of the parish.
