For participants at the recent fundraising ceremony for the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Sacristy Project, the event was not just to raise money but a testament to the enduring commitment of Sir John Kwaku Agnagueh Klu to the growth and development of the Catholic Diocese of Donkorkrom.
The fundraiser, held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Madina, raised GH¢230,000, surpassing its target of GH¢150,000.
In a goodwill message delivered during the programme, Sir John Klu’s support for the Diocese stretches back nearly two decades.
In 2008, when Donkorkrom was still an Apostolic Prefecture, Sir John Klu organised a visit by leading officers of the Accra Grand Commandery of the Knights of St. John International to the area to provide technical and financial advice aimed at supporting its development.
Years later, in 2015, he mobilised support from former colleagues, friends, and associates to organise a fundraising event at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cantonments.

The initiative contributed significantly towards roofing works on the cathedral project.
Sir John Klu’s efforts have been described as evidence of determination, perseverance, and commitment to the Church’s mission.
“Nothing can dim the light which shines from within,” the message noted, citing the inspiration behind Sir John Klu’s continued efforts to support the Diocese.
This year’s fundraiser brought together an impressive gathering of academics, traditional rulers, business executives, legal practitioners, and church leaders, reflecting Sir John Klu’s ability to unite people around a common cause.

Rev. Fr. Benjamin Ohene, who delivered the keynote address, acknowledged this contribution, stating, “We salute Sir John Klu and family for the initiative they have taken and for bringing all of us together to support the completion of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Project.”
The success of the fundraiser demonstrates the power of committed lay leadership within the Church.
Through vision, persistence, and a willingness to serve, Sir John Klu has helped sustain momentum behind one of the Diocese’s most important infrastructure projects.
As work continues on the Bishop’s Sacristy, Main Sacristy, and other aspects of the cathedral project, many participants expressed confidence that the seeds planted through years of dedication will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
