The President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC), Most Rev. Philip Naameh, has released a statement to address all Christians who belong to the Catholic faith and others about this year’s Easter celebration coupled with the Coronavirus pandemic.
In his message issued on April 6, 2020, he asked Christians should not entertain doubts about the existence of God and his mercies for people in this time of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Archbishop Naameh who Is Local Ordinary of Tamale said the emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic has triggered a new kind of unaware lifestyle and pertaining to the directives of the President, the GCBC and health authorities.
He urged Ghanaians “to unite and collaborate as citizens of our dear nation to do what is expected of us to help contain the spread of the virus in the country and remain healthy because there is no distinction between race, religion, gender or status.”
He also advised Catholics to be each other’s keeper and stop taking advantage of the pandemic to make more money from others in exchange of goods and services.
He urged all Christians to work together as one common humanity and pray to God for all who are in the frontline of the pandemic, security personnel, scientists, researchers and medical experts that they may find a remedy for this pandemic and for help in the fight against the virus even as we continue to stick to all necessary health precautions by the health sector to help halt the spread of the disease.
