I’ve Always Promoted Religious Tolerance – Archbishop Naameh Responds to CNN Report

Must read

President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, the Most Rev. Philip Naameh, has said he has been an advocate for religious tolerance all his life as a Priest for the past 44 years.

His comments were a direct response to a publication by CNN purporting that Ghana could become an Islam-dominated state if the fight against LGBTQ is not intensified.

Speaking at a press conference on October 11 at the National Catholic Secretariat in Accra, Archbishop Naameh said the publication by CNN and published by some local media is false.

Archbishop Naameh asserted that he never said what CNN has attributed to him and urged the general public to disregard the publication.

“I wish to state categorically and for the avoidance of doubt, that the statement attributed to me is false and do not in anyway reflect the actual content of the conversation which has to do with the Church’s support for the Bill” he stated.

Archbishop Naameh added that he is of a conviction the publication is among others orchestrated efforts to fabricate, distort and distract the collective quest to make sure the bill is passed in Ghana to curb LGBTQIA+ activities.
