Smiles were brought to the faces of some children recuperating at the paediatrics ward of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) when the Vodafone Ghana Foundation showered them with goodies to celebrate this year’s World Children’s Day.
Some children at Childcare International School in the Cape Coast Metropolis, also had their share of the fun as the Foundation spent the day with them in its efforts to touch lives.
The Foundation wined and dined with the children and held a training exercise for them on construction, drawing, programming, and modelling.
It also donated health-related items to the CCTH’s Paediatric and Medical Wards to enhance the delivery of care and services to the kids.
Reverend Amaris Nana Perbi, the Country Lead of the Vodafone Foundation, said celebrating the day at CCTH, was part of the Foundation’s initiative dubbed: “Birthday Stars” where staff and celebrities every month celebrate their birthdays by undertaking a human development project for the needy and vulnerable.
The Country Lead said the Foundation was exposing children to digitalization to tune their minds into the digital education system.
Vodafone Ghana partnered with Gospel Musician Ms Helena Rhabbles and Hitz FM presenter Dr. Pounds who were born in November, to entertain the children in Cape Coast.
Rev. Perbi told the GNA on the sidelines of the celebration that children were the future leaders and needed a lot of care and support to achieve their dreams.
He said the November Birthday Stars events complemented the Foundation’s goal of making the world a better place by contributing to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, especially on good health and well-being, reduced inequality, and building partnerships to achieve a common goal.
Dr. Pounds on his part called on the public to patronize Vodafone to support the humanitarian duties of the Foundation.
He appealed to stakeholders to collaborate and support health facilities with basic needs to promote a better health care service delivery in the country.
Ms. Helena Rhabbles for her part expressed profound gratitude for the partnership and urged parents to treat their children well to cushion them to take up the mantle of their predecessors.
On the need to provide effective health services in the country, she appealed to the government and stakeholders to commit resources to all health care facilities to support in that direction.
She told parents to always speak blessings into the lives of their children for them to succeed in their endeavours.
Items donated to CCTH included: Bedsheets, Pillowcases, Digital Thermometers, Infrared thermometers, Suction Machines and Pulse Oximeter.
Dr. Obodai Edna Okaikor, Head of Paediatric Unit of the CCTH expressed gratitude to Vodafone Ghana Foundation for the support and pledged to use the items for the intended purposes.
