Holy Cross Brothers, Sisters Celebrate Newborn King

Must read

Every year Holy Cross Brothers and Sisters in the country gather on Christmas day to celebrate the birth of Christ at the Chantel Convent of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at Assorko Essaman in Takoradi.

Fr. Emmanuel Ocran, a Franciscan and Assistant Priest of Christ the King parish at Effiekuma, who led the Eucharistic celebration explained that everything surrounding the birth of Christ was a mystery.

He added that the mystery also lies in the lowliness of Christ’s birth; that is why we sing Glory to God in the highest to reveal how mighty God is. This, he said meant Jesus’ birth in a manger was not an accident.

He stressed that Christmas is a time of bliss, a time of hope, especially for all the poor who feel they don’t belong because of their status.

Fr. Ocran noted that God had a purpose when he decided for Jesus to be born in a manger. It explains that Christians must be poor in spirit and be willing to forgo everything for the sake of Christ, he added.

He encouraged Christians to pay attention to those around them and invited all members to make Christmas a time of joy for other people.

He concluded with the hope that the birth of our Savior may fill our hearts with joy today and in the days ahead.

After Mass, the Holy Cross family and friends and other family members sat and spent time together.
