“We are celebrating the life of a grandmother, mother and Sister, who is more alive right now than ever. Your good deeds lives on,” she said, adding, “With a concept of religiousness, you pursued in greater detail, the spiritual potentials of elderhood.”

As one of the great legends of the SMI Religious Institute, the late Sr. Bagboorebeka was described as someone who at the age of ninety-two, she was peaceful and happy all the time.

“We saw in you, a positive image of old age, growing joy and full heart. Your declining strength never removed the broad smile from your face,” the tribute said.

The late Sr. Bagboorebeka died on December 19, 2022 at the Nadowli Hospital.

At the funeral Mass, Rev. Fr. Venantius Yikore, the Chaplain of the SMI Pre-Novitiate thanked God for the quality life that Sr. Bagboorebeka lived and prayed that she might be united with God in Heaven.

“When our love one dies we think that the person has gone away and so we are seen weeping and gnashing of teeth meanwhile the people have gone to a better place than where she or he was before,” he stated.

He urged Christians mourn with faith and hope in their difficult moments.

Sr. Bagboorebeka had served as a Councillor in the Sisters of Mary Immaculate General Council for one term. She also served as General Bursar of the SMI Congregation and dedicated herself totally to the Legionaries, Sacristy work and the Guest Houses in Accra and Damongo where she served with all her heart.
