Professor Vincent Boima, an old boy of Bishop Herman College (BIHECO) and a distinguished Nephrologist and Head of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics at the University of Ghana, will open an Exhibition of Scholarly Works and deliver his professorial inaugural lecture at the University of Ghana, scheduled for 11th to 15th May 2026.
There will be an official opening ceremony on Monday, 11th May, 2026, at the Balme Library Seminar Room, University of Ghana with Professor Alfred E. Yawson, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana, who is expected to chair the ceremony.
On Wednesday, 14th May 2026, Professor Boima will deliver his inaugural lecture titled “From Genes to Mind: Holistic Pathways to Precision Kidney Care for Africa” at the Great Hall, University of Ghana.
Professor Vincent Boima is an expert in kidney care and has significantly advanced medical practice in Ghana and beyond, while his research continues to shape the future of precision medicine on the African continent.
He has also trained doctors, specialists, and healthcare professionals and has inspired excellence, nurtured talent, and raised standards in medical education.
Professor Boima holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and Master of Public Health Degrees from the University of Ghana, as well as a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians, Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians, Fellow of the International Society of Nephrology, and a Doctor of Philosophy from Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
The 1992/94 Year Group of Bishop Herman College where Professor Boima served as Infirmary Prefect plans to Honour their illustrious colleague during the events.
Organisers have called on the alumni of BHOBU 92/94, POGA 92/94, and the wider BIHECO community to attend the events, emphasizing a proud moment for Bishop Herman College, celebrating one of its own.
