The Government of Ghana has disclosed that discussions for the provision of a permanent secretariat for the Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana, are near completion.
The Minister for Government Communications, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, made the announcement in his address at the 2026 National PR Summit at the Capital View Hotel in Koforidua.
The address was read on his behalf by his Deputy, Hajia Shamima Muslim.
“I am also happy to announce that discussions about a permanent secretariat for IPR are near completion,” the Minister stated, drawing applause from the gathering of communication professionals.
The announcement addresses a long-standing need of the Institute, which is the leading professional body for public relations practitioners in Ghana. For years, the Institute has operated without a befitting permanent office complex to coordinate its administrative, accreditation, and professional development activities nationwide.

A permanent secretariat is expected to enhance the Institute’s operational efficiency, provide a central hub for members, and strengthen its capacity to regulate and advance the practice of public relations in the country.
The Minister commended the leadership of IPR Ghana for its sustained engagement with government and reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting the professional growth of the communication profession.
The 2026 National PR Summit, which runs from October 22 to 24, 2026, is on the theme: “Public Relations and Leadership Readiness” and has brought together over 300 practitioners, including Fellows, past presidents, industry captains, and representatives of public institutions.
Also present at the summit are the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, as Keynote Speaker, the Eastern Regional Minister, the President of IPR Ghana who doubles as President of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), Chiefs and Traditional Rulers, and other dignitaries.
