KSJI Ladies’ Auxiliary Calls for More Women to Speak Truth to Power

Must read

The Supreme Subordinate President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI), Ghana, Noble Sister Emma Ethel Asomani, has called on women, particularly young women, to become stronger voices for justice, integrity and accountability in society.

According to her, women have a critical role to play in shaping the moral direction of families, communities and the nation, and must not allow fear or the pursuit of favour to prevent them from standing for what is right.

“Women are the moral compass of every nation. We are mothers, teachers, formators of conscience, home managers and nation builders,” she said.

Noble Sister Asomani made the remarks ahead of the 1st Edition of the St. John the Baptist Memorial Lecture, scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Christ the King Parish Hall, Cantonments, Accra.

The maiden lecture is on the theme: “Speaking Truth to Power: Upholding Justice, Morality & National Accountability.”

She said the Ladies’ Auxiliary believes that women must go beyond their traditional charitable and religious roles to actively contribute to discussions and actions that promote positive social change.

“When a woman stands for justice, she not only changes a policy; she changes a generation,” she stated.

She further urged women not to compromise their values for favour, stressing that Ghana needs women who are prepared to say “NO” to corruption and “YES” to what is right.

“We must be seen not only as praying women, but as thinking women and leading women,” she said.

Her message to young women: “Your voice matters. Do not be afraid to be called difficult because you stand for truth. Lead with faith, lead with knowledge, lead with understanding, and lead with character.”

Drawing inspiration from St. John the Baptist, she noted that he preached in the wilderness rather than in a palace, yet his message reached kings.

“Leadership is not about holding a title; it is about rendering service. The world needs your courage more than your silence,” she added.

The Memorial Lecture will feature Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei (Maj. Gen.), Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana and Judge of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, as the keynote speaker, along with other panellists.
