The Headmaster of St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School, Rev. Fr. Dr. George Obeng Appah, has made a passionate appeal to the Government of Ghana to grant the school boarding status as a special 75th anniversary gift.

Launching the anniversary on the theme “75 Years of Excellent Catholic Education: Shaping Future Leaders through Integrity and Discipline,” Fr. Appah said commuting in Accra is a major challenge for students; insisting that boarding will reposition the school for the next 75 years.

He noted that Aquinas remains one of the excellent secondary schools in the heart of Accra, yet operates as a day school.

“The realities of commuting within the Greater Accra metropolis create significant challenges for students and their families. We therefore believe that granting Aquinas boarding status would be a meaningful strategic intervention as we enter the next 75 years,” he stated.

He said the request is not simply about adding another facility but about repositioning Aquinas for the future.

The appeal was made before the Guest of Honour, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, Deputy Minister for Education Dr. Clement Apaak, Auxiliary Bishop of Accra Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare, and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service.

Rev. Fr. Appah also appealed for the construction of a befitting assembly hall and rehabilitation of existing infrastructure.
