The Society of African Missions (SMA), Ghana Province, will witness a moment of great joy and thanksgiving as four of its deacons are raised to the Sacred Order of the Priesthood on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The Priestly Ordination Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Africa Catholic Church (OLQA), Oshuiman-Estate, beginning at 9:00 AM prompt.
Most Rev. Julien Kaboré, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, will be the Ordaining Prelate. He will lay hands on the four deacons, invoking the Holy Spirit to consecrate them for priestly ministry in the Church.
The ordinands are: Rev. Justin Amissah, SMA; Rev. Barnabas Osei-Owusu, SMA; Rev. Destiny Walter Tottoh, SMA and Rev. Joseph Valentine Amoah, SMA.
Speaking ahead of the ceremony, the Provincial Superior of SMA Ghana, Very Rev. Fr. James Owusu-Yeboah, SMA, described the ordination as “a profound sign of hope for the Church in Ghana and the universal mission of the SMA.” He called on all the faithful to “come and pray with us as these brothers embrace the call to serve God’s people.”
The Society of African Missions, founded in 1856, has served in Ghana for decades, focusing on primary evangelization, parish ministry, education, and social development. The ordination of these four men marks a new chapter in that missionary legacy.
