Include PR Professionals in Decision-Making – Kwakye Ofosu Urges Institutional Leaders

Must read

The Minister for Government Communications, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has urged institutional leaders to recognise public relations as a strategic management function and involve communicators early in decision-making.

In his address at the 2026 National PR Summit at Koforidua, read on his behalf by his Deputy, Hajia Shamima Muslim, the Minister cautioned that excluding PR professionals often leaves them to manage the consequences of decisions they had no opportunity to influence.

“A communication professional who is excluded from the decision-making process is often left managing the consequences of decisions they had no opportunity to influence. Leaders who do not ignore the value that Public Relations brings to their role live to regret it,” he stated.

He noted that leadership readiness must be a shared responsibility between leaders and the professionals who help them communicate with their stakeholders.

The Minister also charged PR professionals to claim their rightful place at the leadership table by developing the competence to offer strategic advice, the courage to speak truth to power, and the humility to listen and learn.

He said the strength of institutions depends not only on the decisions made, but also on the trust built through those decisions and how they are communicated.
