BHOBU 2001 Franklin Djisam Donates Choir Robes and Brass Band Instruments to Bishop Herman College

On June 13, 2026, Franklin Nutifafa Djisam, a member of the BHOBU 2001-year group, made a generous donation of a full set of new choir robes and a complete set of brass band instruments to Bishop Herman College.

This donation, supported by members of the BHOBU/POGA 2001 group, aims to support the school’s music ministry and choral activities.

Speaking to Newswatchgh.com, Franklin Djisam explained that the project was a personal effort, born from his experience as a former choir member.

He noted, “As a former choir member, I recognised that the existing robes had been in use for nearly 30 years. Working closely with the school’s choir master, I undertook the project to help procure new choir robes and brass band instruments for the school.”

According to him, his donation was driven by a desire to address a long-standing need, hoping that “this support will strengthen the school’s musical and cultural programs, inspire students to pursue their talents with confidence, and encourage a stronger culture of alumni involvement in the school’s development.”

Officiated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Agbodza, Secretary to the Emeritus Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ho and a former Board Chairman, Chaplain and Mathematics teacher at the College, the colourful presentation and dedication ceremony was attended by school authorities, students, alumni, and guests.

Also present were Mr. Samuel Gidigasu, a legendary former Senior Housemaster and Teacher at BIHECO, and Prof. Michael Osae, former BHOBU National President, who chaired the occasion.

Choirs from OLA Girls Senior High School, Kpando Senior High School, and Kpando Technical Institute were also present during the ceremony.

A banking professional with over 21 years of experience across Ghana and the United States — including 17 years in retail banking and four years as a Senior Data Analyst with General Dynamics IT in Virginia, Franklin Djisam described his gesture to the school as deeply fulfilling and humbling.

“Supporting Bishop Herman College after 25 years is a meaningful way of expressing gratitude and contributing to the development of future generations”, he added.

He also suggested that future alumni efforts could focus on key infrastructural needs, particularly improvements to the campus road network, the complex hall, and the Giant Block.

He added, “My message to other alumni groups is that every contribution, whether individual or collective, can make a meaningful difference. Supporting our alma mater is an investment in the future of the students and the institution.”

The Headmaster, Mr. Francis Dominic Kudoloh and other dignitaries commended the initiative and encouraged continued alumni support for the College.

The new robes and instruments are expected to significantly enhance the college’s musical and spiritual programmes while inspiring students to pursue their talents.
