St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School has launched its 75th Anniversary celebration, recounting a remarkable legacy of academic and moral excellence.
,Headmaster, Rev. Fr. George Obeng Appah, recalled that the school which began on the premises of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Osu, and later moved to Cantonments, once recorded the best Advanced Level results in West Africa for three consecutive years.

He said the school has also won the National Science and Maths Quiz trophy, emerged overall national champions in Cadet Drills, and excelled in debates, Dance and Drama, and sports.
“Over the decades, generations of boys have walked through the gates of Aquinas. They came with dreams and aspirations, and they left with knowledge, discipline, values and a sense of responsibility,” he said.
Many old students, known as Old Toms, have gone on to serve as priests, doctors, lawyers, engineers, academics, teachers, politicians, businessmen, entrepreneurs, public servants and military officers.

Speaking directly to the Old Toms present, Fr. Appah said: “This is your school… You are perhaps the strongest testimony that the Aquinas project works… Therefore, as we celebrate 75 years, I ask you not simply to come home for the anniversary. Come home to help rebuild your home.”
“Let an Old Tom be able to return to Aquinas five years from now and say: ‘I was part of the generation that helped transform this place,'” he added.
The anniversary theme is “75 Years of Excellent Catholic Education: Shaping Future Leaders through Integrity and Discipline.”
