Let Your Inner Spirit Liberate you from Challenges – Jesuit Priest Urges Religious Sisters in Ghana

Must read

Religious Sisters in Ghana have been urged by a Jesuit Priest to let their inner spirit liberate and lead them in their various Apostolates no matter the challenges they might face.

Rev. Fr. Timothy Baghrmwin, a Jesuit Psychologist, said this in a Eucharistic celebration to open a nine-day media and communication workshop for 20 Sister Communicators at the Centre for Spiritual Renewal, Santase-Kumasi in Ghana, West Africa on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Fr. Baghrmwin, who is also one of the managers of the Centre for Spiritual Renewal, indicated that without God, “we can do practically nothing but with him all things are possible.”

Delving into the readings, he challenged the Religious to emulate Paul and Silas who though arrested placed in prison, were “free in spirit, singing and praising God.”

“The physical body can be imprisoned but the spirit cannot be imprisoned,” Fr. Timothy said.

He stated that, the Apostles were able to pray, sing and praise God because their spirits could not be imprisoned and this act of theirs, transformed the guard who thought he would be in trouble if Paul and Silas had escaped.

The celebrant called on the Sister Communicators to always be appreciative in whatever favours they gained in imitation of the guard who showed Paul and Silas gratitude by taking them to his house after he had been saved.

The Sisters were also encouraged to explore new horizons, cherish their own personalities and talents as well as those of others and be people of gratitude.

The workshop being organised by the Conference of Major Superiors of Religious-Ghana (CMSR-GH) in collaboration with Conrad Hilton Foundation, and Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church, seeks to train Sister Communicators in media, communication and networking, to enable them tell their own stories to project Women Religious Congregations and their activities in Ghana.

Present at the Mass were Sr. Cecilia Afari, SMMC, Vicar General of the Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (SMMC), the media and communication training Project Coordinator for the Sister Communicators; Sr. Theodora Adzayawo, SMMC, Executive Secretary of the CMSR-GH; Mr. Robert Dela Mawuenyegah and Damian Avevor, both Directors of Global Newswatch Media and Communications; and  Mr. Gameli Attipoe, a journalist,  the facilitators of the media and communication training.
