The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama has challenged members of the Assemblies of God, to intensify evangelism and church planting, urging them to take advantage of modern technology to spread the Gospel.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the World Assemblies of God Congress in Accra on October 16, 2026, President Mahama said the present generation had access to communication and transportation tools that could make evangelistic work easier than it was for earlier missionaries.
“We have TikTok, we have Facebook, we have all kinds of instruments of evangelising,” he said.
He urged Christians to use these platforms to reach more people with the message of Jesus Christ and expand the church’s presence across the world.
The President also reflected on the sacrifices made by earlier missionaries who established the church in Ghana despite difficult conditions, particularly in the northern part of the country.
“Those who preceded us had a more difficult job than we had,” he said.

He recalled that the pioneers persevered in spreading the Gospel even when the environment was not conducive to establishing Christian churches.
Their commitment, he said, should challenge the current generation to remain dedicated to the Great Commission.
“What excuse do we have?” he asked, urging church members to make use of the opportunities available to them.

President Mahama cited Matthew 28:18–20, which records Jesus Christ’s instruction to His disciples to make disciples of all nations, as the foundation of the church’s evangelistic mission.
He encouraged pastors, church leaders and members to continue preaching the Gospel and planting churches.
The President said the success of the church’s mission depended not only on available resources but also on the willingness of Christians to act on their responsibility to spread the faith.
